20 - 20 Vision

 20-20 vision

The aim of our ‘20-20 Vision’ mission strategy is to enable new generations to encounter God’s love in action and to grow in their faith and discipleship.  The project is our own response to the Church of England “Going for Growth” report (2010) and the Diocesan “London Challenge”.

The parish has:

  •  A clear vision to grow and develop our children’s ministry
  • A full time Children’s Minister
  • A PCC appointed Children’s Champion, Safeguarding Officers and Children’s Ministry Group with the specific remit for the strategic oversight of the St Mary’s ministry with children and young people.
  • A team of around 50 volunteers actively involved with ministry among children and young people, with regular training provided.
  •  Junior Church groups that meet during part of the Sunday 10am service, with an all-age service once a month.
  •  A variety of other weekday activities including Jump for Joy (a weekday term time service for pre school children and carers), at both St Mary's and St Luke's, and Stay and Play (activities and bible stories for children and carers once a week at St Mary's during school holidays).
  •  Messy Church events are held several times a year
  •  We have a Godly Play classroom, and Godly Play sessions are run after school in four to six week blocks through the year.
  • An active Youth Group
  • Strong links with local schools and uniformed organizations.
  • We have been awarded the London Diocesan Children’s Charter
  •  We have a Children’s Council elected by members of Junior Church which meets regularly, gives input to the Church leadership, encourages other children and takes responsibility for organising a number of activities.
