We have a thriving children’s ministry at St Mary’s, with activities on Sundays and during the week. Worship as a whole community is integral to life at St Mary’s and our curriculum for all age groups is based on the Lectionary readings in order that we worship, reflect and learn together week by week.
We are passionate about helping different generations to work and grow together in mission and ministry. We actively seek to encourage children’s participation in the whole faith community and to enable the adult church community to own and support the children’s ministry in a variety of ways.
We have a Children's Council, elected each year by members of Junior Church.
Crèche, Pebbles, Explorers, Adventurers and Pathfinders meet at St Mary's on Sundays at 10:00.
Pebbles, Explorers, Adventurers and Pathfinders start in church, collecting their badges from the children's welcome table. They go out for separate activities during part of the service, except on the second Sunday of the month which is an All Age service.
Crèche meets each week in the Millennium Hall (generally in the Richardson Room).
Please remember to complete a new registration form if you are bringing children along to any of our groups for the first time. All children need new registration forms in September each year.
All Age Services
Junior Church stay in our main service on the 2nd Sunday of each month, which is our All Age Parade service.
All Age Parade services are attended by the uniformed organisations - Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, who all attend in uniform, except during August.
There is a good programme of other activities for children and young people at St Mary's, including Jump for Joy, Messy Church, Godly Play, Stay and Play, and Youth Hub. There are various other seasonal and social events.
